The agriculture sector has large opportunities for entrepreneurial activities but due to limited availability of infrastructure and farming techniques bordering between primitive and traditional are the two major constraints in agricultural development. Agricultural entrepreneurship in India is usually governed by tradition and culture resulting lower rate of output and income. Higher income and more output, by and large, characterize economic development and by proper exploitation of potentialities of the agriculture sector, the agricultural production can be increased for raising the income of the people. The North Eastern tribal area is rich in resources both in mineral and agricultural and given the opportunities can give a lift in agriculture sector, as there are potentialities for development of agricultural entrepreneurship. Keeping the development potentialities of agriculture sector in view, the study is undertaken in Karbi Anglong District, a hill District of Assam falling under Sixth Schedule areas of the Constitution, where majority of the population is tribal.
