Entrepreneurial Orientation in SMEs of National Capital Region of India - 2015 - 302 - 306

Conceptualizing entrepreneurial orientation in SMEs is always a big concern for business owners. This research paper highlights the entrepreneurial orientation of SMEs in food processing and its effects on their performance. This paper also attempts to raise the core issues, which an entrepreneur face while developing entrepreneurial orientation strategies. Based on theoretical framework (literature reviews) and linking it to actual performance of SMEs (by taking direct interviews with CEOs/ founder/ present owner), an empirical study was done in the National Capital Region of India. The sample of 30 firms was carried for testing all the constructs of entrepreneurial orientation. Basic level statistical analysis was performed using SPSS package. Among the constructs of entrepreneurial orientation, risk adverse ability and innovativeness shows high influence on business performance. Lack of skills and education of the employees in SMEs are the significant reason for developing entrepreneurial orientation.
