Using questionnaire, data were collected during the year 2010 farming season from 120 randomly sampled rice farmers and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results disclosed that respondents' mean age, length of farming experience and capital level were 37 years, 14.81 years and N26, 383 ($175.89), respectively. Further, low capital fund and difficulty in securing credits were identified as the two most stringent constraints to rice production in the area under both the methods. Thus, it is recommended that farmers shall form cooperative societies to increase their access to loan and credit facilities while relevant policy measures such as establishment of all-seasons motorable roads shall be made by government.
