Abstract: | Social Entrepreneurship mainly focuses on the idea to address any social cause or a concern with some new methods or ways and help to mobilize the solutions to bring in a change. There are many definitions available for the concept and in most of the cases the idea with which the entrepreneurial seeds are sown to help people at large. So more or less we can define social entrepreneurship not only in terms of the profits but also concerns like poverty alleviation and upliftment of the social poor. The paper shall look into a case of Rural Opportunity for Social Elevation (R.O.S.E) based in Uttarakhand and how it has helped in the transformation of the lives of the local communities. It depicts a scenario where tourism and the allied sustainable tourism practices along with the participation of the local communities have paved the way for social up-liftment and poverty alleviation. The scope for entrepreneurship in the particular case example concerns both the people and the entrepreneur. |
