Fourteenth Biennial Conference on Entrepreneurship/ Edited by Rajeev Sharma, Sunil Shukla, Amit Kumar Dwivedi & Ganapathi Batthinien_US
The research paper presents a narrative approach taken for analyzing the strategy postures for bourgeoning space technopreneurship based on the Strategic Position and Action Evaluation (SPACE) Matrix. Two determining external dimensions – Industry attractiveness & environmental stability and two internal dimensions – competitive advantage & financial strength, are considered for this qualitative research. Several contributing factors for each dimension are identified and assigned a grade on likert scale. Subsequently, an aggregate grading is obtained for each dimension. Aided by a graphic representation, the posture for that segment is then deduced. This analysis is applied to two upstream activities – launch vehicles & satellite manufacturing – and two downstream activities – satellite communication & Earth observation / geospatial applications. The findings of the qualitative research indicate that they all have competitive posture except satellite manufacturing which has aggressive posture. While the first three segments would require a focus on R&D and product innovation, satellite manufacturing offers great potential and assured return on investment.en_US
