Fourteenth Biennial Conference on Entrepreneurship/ Edited by Rajeev Sharma, Sunil Shukla, Amit Kumar Dwivedi & Ganapathi Batthinien_US
Over the years, Social entrepreneurship has been one of the most sought after ventures across the country which was started to identify attractive and innovative solutions to various socio economic issues prevalent among women. The Government of Kerala in such an attempt had in 2013 set up under the Department of Social Justice, an innovative programme named She Taxi service primarily for transportation of women and managed by women folk themselves. The fleet of taxis were managed by a group named Gender Park which was under the control of the Department of Social Justice under the State Government. The key idea of this programme was basically to address the security issues of women as well as to provide entrepreneurship abilities to a sizeable number of educated women in the State. Thrust was also to address the issues related to increasing threats on the safety and security of women’s lives too as well as to provide a source of employment on a larger scale. This humble research work is in albeit an attempt to trace the aspects which paved way for the stalling of the growth of this entrepreneurial venture in State which was aimed at the welfare of women folk in Kerala despite the fact that the Gods own country has remained the first fully literate State in the country. The researchers also attempt to find out various issues faced by the She Taxi fleet operators in Kerala also.en_US
