Abstract: Women's empowerment has become as an important indicator of the development of the national economy that is a key concern to political thinkers, social scientists, and reformers. That is why in underdeveloped countries like India, various schemes aimed at women empowerment have been implemented in the country at various times Kerala is a state that has popular for the implementation of various women empowerment schemes. The Kudumbashree program is one of the important schemes. A number of studies have been conducted in connection with the Kudumbashree project. However, there are many cracks in the implementation of Kudumbashree project due to many reasons. this paper is aimed to look at the ' Theeramythri ' project being implemented by the Government of Kerala under the Department of Fisheries. Theeramythri Project is a government initiative aimed at ensuring the upliftment and financial security of fisher women on December 24, 2004, aftermath of the tsunami disaster. It mainly focuses to promoting alternative livelihoods among fisher folks for enhancing their incomes and improving their quality of life.
