Title: The Entrepreneurial Competency Index: An Assessment Tool for Financial Institutions
Authors: Sampath Rao, M S
Keywords: Entrepreneurship
Issue Date: Sep-1997
Publisher: Sage Publications
Abstract: The conventional techniques used by financial institutions to ensure the success of business ventures are lopsided in that they focus exclusively on venture-specific aspects and tend to completely ignore person-specific factors. Using the concept of entrepreneurial competencies, now applied widely in entrepreneurship development training the world over, the author proposes a four-stage strategy to screen out individuals with the least potential for success. However, the findings of this study, he suggests, need to be tested and validated by future research.
