Abstract: Newly carved Chhattisgarh state in India has portrayed a commendable development in all the prospective areas. Government policies and tailor-made models for MSME sector are the main reasons for the accomplishment of this task. Especially the burgeoning MSMEs are catered with all the probable assistance of the commercial banks both Public and Private sector. The paper focuses on the developmental progress of selected public and private sector banks and finds that there is a significant difference between the advances extended by both the sector to this particular segment of the Society. The contribution of MSME sector in the GDP of the state was significant in the recent years. The paper also tries to explore the root cause of difficulties faced by MSME sector.
