Entrepreneurship is the core of economic development of a country and looking it in the Indian context, women’s skills and knowledge, their talents and abilities in business and a compelling desire of wanting to do something positive are some of the reasons for the increasing rate of women entrepreneur in the present day rural India. Not only do women entrepreneurs contribute to employment creation and economic growth through their increasing numbers, but they also make a contribution to the diversity of entrepreneurship in the economic process. Therefore, the government is offering various programmes and training for women entrepreneurs. Although great advances are being made in technology, illiteracy, structural difficulties, societal notions and inadequate financial support prevent the very spirit of women entrepreneurship in India. They are ignorant of new technologies or unskilled in their use, and often unable to do research and gain the necessary training for their entrepreneurship. Taking into all these matters into account, the paper is intended to analyse the present status of rural women entrepreneurs, various development schemes of government, identifying the problems faced by rural women and contribute suitable suggestions for promoting women entrepreneurship in rural India.en_US
