Abstract: India is an agricultural country with more than 60 percent population dependent on agriculture. Agriculture accounts for 20 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). Entrepreneurs are the persons who undertake the risk of new enterprises. Agripreneurs are the entrepreneurs of the agricultural sector. India being agricultural country, agripreneurs play very vital and important role. They contribute significantly to increase the agriculturalGDP. This paper discusses the concept of agripreneurs. It highlights the importance of agripreneurs. Changed liberalized environment and new technological developments open up many opportunities for agripreneurs. All such major opportunities for agripreneurs are described in the paper. Agripreneurs take risks and thus face certain problems. Some of these problems as well as favourable conditions for them are discussed in the paper. The government enacts many laws for regulating the industry. It is necessary for each entrepreneur to have knowledge about the laws prevailing in the country. Some of the general laws as well as some specific laws related to agricultural sector are listed in the paper.
