Entrepretrait: Personality Traits as Predictors of Entrepreneurial Orientation among the Students of Higher Technical Education in IIT Roorkee: An Empirical Study

Abstract

Purpose - The identification of the entrepreneurial personality factors is a significant area of research. Entrepretrait is the study to explore the personality traits as the predictors of the entrepreneurial orientation. Design/Methodology/Approach - A sample above 400 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee students belonging to various courses and years will be collected. There are 10 factors defining the entrepreneurial orientation of the students included in this study. Findings - Factors such as Innovativeness, Locus of Control, Risk taking propensity, Management Skills, Need for Achievement, Tolerance to Ambiguity, Ability to Co-operate, Passion for Business, Positive attitude and Team Worker will be evaluated to identify the entrepreneurial capabilities of IIT Roorkee students. The study will explore how strongly the chosen factors predict the entrepreneurial orientation in the respondents. Statistical analysis will be performed to find out the results and discussion will be carried out in the light of the results. Practical Implication - The study would enable the respondents to identify their strengths and weakness and to grab the entrepreneurial opportunities present for them. For the nation the study will be a great help to improve the employability situation as well as economic growth. Originality/Value - The study is an innovative effort in the campus of IIT Roorkee to measure the entrepreneurial potential among the students on 10 different parameters. The respondents will be from various disciplines and various respective years of their courses.
