Abstract: Creativity has a central role to play in the development of the country. Creativity kick starts the virtuous cycle of enterprise creation and employment generation. Inventions are not only done in the laboratories of bricks and cement, but are also explored in the laboratories of life. Indians per se are very creative as they are educated in the schools of hardships and deficiency of resources. The highest level of creativity is depicted among the rural poor who struggle to survive as they are associated with constraints of either resources, or income, or at times become victim of different unfavourable environmental conditions. Necessity also strengthens such people to become inventors. Such creative or ignited minds are not given a formal designation of scientist nationally or internationally, but are recognized as "odd balls" in their limited periphery of village.
