Title: Pentaerythritol Making Plant

Abstract: Pentaerythritol was initially developed as a raw material to make explosive. But, later, this was mainly used in the manufacture of alkyd resins. The production of pentaerythritol showed rapid growth due to the tremendous increase of alkyd resin production. Pentaerythritol is one of predominant polyhydric alcohols used in alkyd resins. And the high functionality of pentaerythritol attracted wide interest because it gives many advantages. Alkyd resins containing Pentaerythritol tend to have higher viscosities and molecular weights, dry more rapidly, and give coatings of greater hardness with lower flexibility, better gloss and gloss retention, better heat and yellowing resistance, better chemical resistance, better water resistance, and better exterior durability than other polyhydric alcohol alkyds. In paints, pentaerythritol type also show greater anti sagging at equal brushability and flow.
