Abstract: The carbon electrode put. into the moist ammonium chloride is a carbon rod. The carbon rod serves as a conductor passing an electric current from the interior of a dry cell to the external anode terminal. Therefore, the quality of the carbon rod exerts an important influence on the characteristics of the dry cell, acquiring the most vital position among the items for a dry battery. The demand for such carbon rods is closely related to that for dry batteries. In the case of Korea, it is on the increase in proportion to an increase in the demand for electric and electronics products. In particular, an explosive demand for the household consumer electronics, including tape recorders, transistor radios and flash lights, is greatly accelerating the demand for dry batteries along with carbon rods.
