Abstract: Women entrepreneurship is an emerging reality and women represent more than one-third of all people involved in entrepreneurial activity, so it is very essential to make them productive by involving them in prolific entrepreneurial activities. Rural entrepreneurship is considered to be the most decisive activity in dealing with problems of unemployment in rural areas. Over the past two decades, the role of women has changed significantly due to changing socio-cultural environment. The Self Help Group movement in India has been functioning in right direction for empowering women and eradicating poverty in rural areas. However, women are still not empowered as per the expectation. The present study is based on the primary data collected from the 90 sample members of 9 SHGs from 5 villages of Udham Singh Nagar district through questionnaires. The main objective of the study is to examine the level of women empowerment and rural entrepreneurship in the study area.
