Abstract: | Unemployment is the cause of concern for everyone throughout the world. Nobody can dispute the fact that entrepreneurship in private sector can assuage mounting problems of unemployment. Goa is one of the tiniest State of India. According to the recent study of Labour Bureau of the Government of India, unemployment rate found in Goa is 17.9%. It is highest among all the small Indian States and union territories. With closure of mining & tourism in it is crystal clear that the problem of unemployment will rise in near future. The people that are going to get affected are educated unemployed and lower income groups. But on the other hand, certain industries like agriculture, fishing, mining (during its hay days), construction, hotel industries are complaining of manpower crunch at every level. This is true, though the situation seemed contradictory. Present research paper analysis the reasons for such a situation and we would like to propose fresh entrepreneurial ideas and a model which can bridge the gap between increasing unemployment and manpower crunch. The paper stresses different opportunities, avenues available to Micro, Small, and Medium enterprises in service sector. |
