Abstract: Pune city is well known as industrial, cultural and educational hub of India. Here all type of industries are present like Manufacturing, IT & ITES, Banking and Insurance. But Pune is mainly famous for its manufacturing industries since the initial industrialization period in the country. Here all type of light and heavy engineering manufacturing SME’s are present where as many of them have grown large, some of them are still at same state as they were at the time of their inception. A few of them have closed down. For the success of any enterprise it is important to have proper functional set up. This research is focussed on the evaluation of functional abilities of SME’s. Whether the SME’s in Pune region are having well-defined functional approach for their regular operations and activities in all major management functions like Marketing, Production & Operation, Finance and Human Resource management, is the subject of our analysis.
