Title: Coffee Processing
Keywords: Coffee
Issue Date: Jan-1987
Publisher: United Nations Industrial Development Organization
Abstract: Generally coffee processing is separated into processing in the producer countries and processing in the consumer countries. In the producing countries the coffee is grown and prepared for export as green coffee beans. Two procedures are in use: the "wet process" and the "dry process". Their application depends on local customs and availability of water. It also depends on the variety of coffee grown, i.e. whether Arabica or Robusta coffee is to be processed. In the consumer countries the green coffee beans usually arrive in bags and are then processed into instant coffee which is filled in glasses with screw-tops or into roast coffee beans or ground roast coffee filled in bags of various sizes.
