Abstract

DOMESTIC UTENSILS -BRASS I. Product and its Uses Domestic utensils are indispensable items of every household. The brass utensils are considered essential articles out of various types of domestic utensils. These are mostly used for storing, cooking, servicing and catering purposes. In old days the utensils were generally used to be made of copper. Later on the same were replaced by the brass being cheaper than the copper and durable material in household cooking. Although, the brass utensils later on were gradually replaced with stainless steel, aluminium and plastic wares. Still now the bras. utensils will be seen in plenty in the rural areas for their aesthetic value. One advantage of the brass utensils is that the old utensils after wear and tear have good resale value. Besides, cooking and catering the brass utensils are also used for worshipping purpose throughout the country specially in temples, as these are considered one of the essential article, for ta. puja.
