Abstract: | M. E. Industries 187 I. Product & its uses Pen holders are commonly used for writing by fixing a nib on to the metal insert of the pen holders. This scheme deals with the manufacture of general type of pen holders made of wood, used in offices and educational institutions. These are fabricated from the following 3 basic parts. (i) Wooden handle. (ii) Embedded metal insert. (iii) Metal ferule (catcher). They are generally 150 to 170 mm long and diameters vary from 7 to 12 mm. This item is exclusively reserved for production in small scale sector. n. Market Potential Due to rapid change coming in the socioeconomic life of people and availability of more sophisticated ink pens and ball point pens for writing purpose, the scope and market potential for the product has been considerably affected. Nevertheless due to their sturdiness and long life, the reservation for production and purchase from Small Scale Sector setting up of new small scale units by prospective entrepreneous may find some favour. It will, therefore, be advisable to set up new industries for the production of these holders but, with considerable improvement in their design and performance. |
