Abstract: This study aims at knowing potential of India’s medical tourism in comparison to the Asian market. It also helps us to understand the scope and prospective of the health tourism market in the Indian allopathic sector. Comparison of health market with countries like Thailand and Singapore is done on the basis of number of foreign patients treated, sources of business, revenue and cost. This analysis shows that though India is ahead of Singapore in terms of number of tourist and number of countries from which it gets health business, it lags far behind in terms of revenue. The reasons behind the same and major challenges faced by India to promote Medical tourism as a sectoral business is discussed in this paper.
