dc.description.abstracthe women folk of Laos are very fashion conscious. They spend most of their earnings/savings in purchase of cosmetics. This has been' at times leading to ldornestic problems. During our discussions with some people, it was found that in Laos, only very expensive multinational brands of cosmetics are available and there are no other brands available. Even the cheap Chinese brands are iexpenstve due to taxes and duties. Yet there is no manufacturing of cosmetics.1 iThe most widely sold cosmetic product is the nail paint or nail polish.
