Abstract: | The concept of entrepreneurship with regard to promotion of employment opportunities and economic development is gaining momentum. Recent past has witnessed dramatic developments in the field of entrepreneurship in diverse forms. Public services entrepreneurship is one such initiative which has immense potential in bringing about sustainable rural development. This is a case study of 42 village development councils (VDC) promoted by Peermade Development Society in Idukki district of Kerala state. The study shows that these VDCs were successful in delivering heterogeneous services to the rural public in the field of community empowerment, good governance, linkages and collaborations, health, insurance, natural resource management and infrastructure development in an entrepreneurial manner. |
