Abstract: | The study aims at examining the consequences of strategic choices the Indian firms made over a period of time. Indubitable, whenever a choice is made, we cannot rule out the possibility of some adjustments here and there in the light of development taking place in the environment at the stage of implementation, leave aside a serious environmental change calling for total abandonment of a strategy. In most cases, the basic strategy is kept intact and it dominates the functioning of an organisation for some time. It is in this sense that an attempt is made to identify a strategy predominantly pursued by firm. As prior to is choice and thereafter, all behaviours of the top position-holders point in the same direction, the performance record of a firm can easily be linked with this strategic choice. |
