Abstract: It is widely believed that there is an aspiring entrepreneur within every individual. While in some cases entrepreneurship manifests, in most it does not. While many entrepreneurship cases discuss objective issues such as opportunity selection, business modelling and growth challenges, ones discussing subtle entrepreneur dilemmas are sparse. Kalpathy Kumaraswamy Case (A) brings to the forefront a dilemma that is often taken for granted: the decision to become an entrepreneur. While exceptions do exist, it is a deliberate decision in majority of the individuals. Case (B) then takes the discussion to another ignored dilemma in the entrepreneurial process: trading-off passion for commercial success. Are right trade-offs the prerogative of exceptions? Entrepreneurial dilemmas, though subtle, are aplenty, and discussing them will hopefully enable aspiring entrepreneurs avoid them.
