Abstract: Non-Government Organisations are an important institution in the socio-economic development of a country like ours. Governments have considered NGO’s as partners in the implementation of various developmental and training programs, like RUDSETIs in Karnataka. Government of India’s initiatives like Make in India, Skilled India, STEP, Stand-Up India is promoting rural women entrepreneurship in a big way. The government seeks to bring women to the forefront of India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing access to loans, networks, markets and trainings. NGOs with their advantage of non- rigid, locality specific, beneficiary oriented and committed nature of service will take the government initiatives to the rural poor for grass root development. Entrepreneurship at rural areas can help in closing the huge gap of disparity between rural and urban areas. For sustainable rural development, empowerment of rural women is very important. Empowerment through entrepreneurship development is a way out to address the problems of rural unemployment and poverty. This paper considers a case study of Adharsh Women's Development Association [AWDA], a NGO involved in rural women entrepreneurship development in Muddebihal, Vijaypura district, Karnataka.
