Entrepreneurship creates opportunities for generation of employment, income and wealth by ensuring optimal use of productive resources within in a region, community, or country. Therefore creating an ideal environment for such achievement oriented and enterprising people is the need of the hour. Societies which can hone such entrepreneurial capabilities are bound to prosper in the recent times. Entrepreneurs convert these opportunities into viable business propositions. Therefore, it is argued that Achieving Societies attain economic growth faster than others. Entrepreneurial manifestations in terms of new venture formation have been instrumental in the social and economic transformation of nations. Countries the world over, have taken rapid strides in their material well-being by promoting entrepreneurship in the society. Therefore, the only option open to planners and policymakers in most developing economies is to focus on promotion of self-employment/entrepreneurship. The need of the hour, therefore, is to create job providers than job seekers. After all, entrepreneurship is more than a set of tools for launching and managing a venture. It is a mindset, a way of life and a framework to look at things that are opportunity focused and creative. It is for those who possess high achievement motivation, love autonomy and are willing to manage calculated risk. It is for those who learn from their failures and bounce back. With this background, there appears a need and a fairly good possibility of promoting entrepreneurship among the different communities, a entrepreneurship orientation programme was organised for the Group A officers of Directorate of Skill Development, Employment & Entrepreneurship Government of Maharashtra.en_US
