Abstract: The small scale service sector represents a huge opportunity for contributing to economic growth and potential for employment generation. Increased disposable incomes and growing complexities of personal and professional life necessitates that individuals seek and get the support of a number of services both small and large ticket. While GDP grows (estimated for 2003-04) at 8 plus percentage, the contribution is largely from the service sector. The third SSI census has unveiled the potential for small services. This conceptual paper elaborates on the potential for small services, challenges and opportunities thereof.
