Abstract: Developing countries continue to confront the issues of unemployment, poverty, illiteracy, access to healthcare services and the connected consequences. In such situation social entrepreneurship as an emerging field, can contribute to bring positive changes ensuring that individuals are active agents of social development. The participants involved in the process may have the innovative ideas and solution to the most critical problems of society. Social entrepreneurship is considered to be the nexus between public, private and non-profit organizations. There is a trend that has increasingly blurred the boundaries between these three sectors creating a new space for social entrepreneurs. Time and again it has been evidenced that both government and private establishments, even with philanthropic initiatives are often not effective in tackling the contemporary problems. Encouraging social entrepreneurs can have advantages. They may create a world that can respond quickly and effectively to the challenging situation. However, as an evolving area, social entrepreneurship has raised number of debates and dialogues relating to conceptual and practical issues. This paper attempts to address such issues with a focus on tracing the potential and further probes into the possibilities of a constructive future of social ntrepreneurship as a field of inquiry.
