Today’s world, women entrepreneurs have become a crucial component of the world corporate environment. Women are the backbone of economic development in many developed and developing nations. In India, women function as an important pillar of the society. Women Entrepreneurship (WE) has emerged as a global concept and utilizes competencies and skills of women for the success of their enterprises. Woman
entrepreneurship development, especially among women largely focuses on the empowerment of women
through developing skills in micro, small to medium-sized enterprise (MSMEs) and business ventures by taking the risk of making investment decisions. The MSMEs sector has often been termed the ‘engine of growth’ for developing economies. The study is focused on social-status of women entrepreneurs in Uttarakhand, and role of women entrepreneurs in the development of micro, small and medium scale Industries in Uttarakhand.
