dc.description.abstract Assam is basically a poor state with rich resource base. In the field of entrepreneurship Assam has much more scope for further development. The objective of the paper is to identify the potentials and challenges of indigenous entrepreneurship. There are major indigenous enterprises in Assam like silk, bell-metal and brass, fire crackers, gold and jewellery etc. Due to backwardness they are found at the grim of darkness. With proper development strategy of the Government the indigenous industries can be developed with a view to overall economic development. A humble attempt will be made in this paper to highlight the prospects and problems on indigenous entrepreneurs in Assam. en_US
