dc.description International Conference on ‘Empowering Women Entrepreneurs from the Grassroots to Global’ - February 24-25, 2022 en_US
dc.description.abstract The COVID-19 pandemic produced unexpected crises that were beyond the comprehension of the average person. It altered the course of daily living as well as in the economic world. Although studies suggests that COVID-19 has had a bigger health impact on men, the pandemic's economic impact has been felt more strongly by women, particularly female entrepreneurs. The resulting problem is so severe that business analysts have coined the term "she-cession". The survival of the small firms operated by the already disadvantaged women were jeopardized in this difficult environment. The main purpose of this article is to evaluate the impact COVID-19 has had on women entrepreneurs by evaluating the resulting challenges and opportunities. Companies of the world at large need to broaden their focus on support for women in entrepreneurship. Significantly, more attention should be emphasized by governments and companies’ efforts in preparation to reduce the negative impacts COVID-19 has had on women entrepreneurs. en_US
