Abstract:
In developing economies like India, the role of women is most significant as a homemaker, workers and job creators (Shetty, 2019). As per the Statista, Women owned a little over 20 percent of all micro, small and medium businesses across India as compared to nearly 80 percent among men in financial year 2021 (Statista, 2021). As majority of women are homemakers, having the higher social and family responsibilities as compared to men therefore, female entrepreneurs are unable to grow their business from micro or small to medium or large enterprises with transformed economic impact (Shetty, 2019). However, in the gig and slowing economy during the covid-19 pandemic, women equally took the benefits of the cooking and business skills to sell their capabilities and turning to foodpreneurs through cloud kitchen enterprises, which ultimately leading to women empowerment. This paper highlights on understanding the mechanism of cloud kitchen, role and challenges for women in the cloud kitchen business and discussing the way forward for women to bring sustainability and excelling in the cloud kitchen business.
