Abstract:
This conceptual paper attempts to link the literature on dynamic capabilities with the literature on entrepreneurial cognition. Specifically, this paper connects sensing as a dynamic capability with Kirznerian entrepreneurial alertness. This paper also clarifies how alertness as a manifestation of sensing can result in firm performance through strategic orientation and new product development. Lastly, this paper suggests how Kirznerian alertness can be developed via an interpersonal and intrapersonal approach.
