dc.description.abstract The Indian Made Foreign Liquors (IMFL) are made by blending of spirits whereas Feni is distilled exclusively from the pure fermented juice of either cashew apples or coconut taddy without addition of spirit. Konkan region of Maharashtra grows both cashew fruits as well as coconuts in plenty. Invariably, cashew apples are not further processed after separation of cashewnut. Since cashew apples are not available round the year, coconut taddy can be distilled during off-season. At present, Feni is produced only in Goa and it has become the speciality of this state. This product can be produced in other regions as well.
