Abstract:
India, like other developing countries, is confronted with the serious problem of mounting
unemployment among educated youth. In order to deal with this problem, Entrepreneurship
Development Programmes (EOPs) have been found as an effective tool to motivate
newcomers for taking up self-employment and entrepreneurial career. It has also been
realised by Indian planners that entrepreneurial values should be inculcated when the
students are graduating,to convert creative energies, technical and scientific capabilities into
productive resources, generate further employment, output and income.
To meet with the above objectives, Department of Science & Technology (DST) has taken
the initiative in introducing entrepreneurship as a cou rse in Science and Technicallnstitu nons. DST has also assisted a number of engineering colleges and polytechnics in creating
Entrepreneurship Development Cells for organizing Entrepreneurship Development (EO)
activities in their colleges and nearby areas.
