| dc.description.abstract | Hing (Ferula alliacea) and Hingra (Ferula asafoetida) are the two varieties of asafoetida known and recognized in India. Compounded asafoetida powder/tablets find use in India in culinary preparations for flavouring purpose. Pure asafoetida is generally not preferred for use in view of the high concentration.
