Abstract:
Tourism is now well recognised as an engine of growth in the various economies in the world. Several countries have transformed their economies by developing their tourism potential. Tourism has greater capacity to generate large scale employment either through self employment or generating additional income sources for the skilled and the unskilled. Tourism in rural area is a very important factor, which can positively
influence regional development through entrepreneurial efforts of farmers or landlords. Although, in India rural market is still unexploited and has enormous untapped potential, Agri-Tourism as a specialized form of rural tourism in the context of rural market has come up in an innovative manner through the endeavours of local people by providing international hospitality in desi style in their farms. Developing tourism in rural areas increases participation of the poor and brings wider benefits. This paper
focuses on the concept of Agri-Tourism and its applicability in the state of Rajasthan in India, various entrepreneurial ventures of the local people in agritourism and at last the SWOT analysis which helps to understand the opportunities and challenges for the development of agri-tourism as an innovative field of entrepreneurship in the rural market of Rajasthan
