Management education has been at the vanguard of higher education in India. With the booming economy and ever increasing job opportunities, MBA has become the most preferred post graduate degree in the country. The only area of concern is that management institutes are creating more job seekers than job creators. Entrepreneurship is still not being considered as a serious career option by most of the management graduates. This poses a serious problem for the long term sustainability of Indian economy. The top notch management institutes in the country have already started responding to this issue in a major way. But there no signs of any serious attempt made by the second and third tier institutes in this direction. These institutes cater to the maximum demand of management education in the country. This paper proposes to throw some more light on this issue. The paper proposes to get an insight in the perception of management students with respect to entry barriers to entrepreneurship. The results will highlight the social and economical factors that support or hinder the virtue of entrepreneurship in management graduates. The findings of the study would help in recommending certain changes in the pedagogy of management courses so as inculcate the virtue of entrepreneurship in management graduates. |
