dc.description.abstract Thermostat is an electromechanical device which is based on difference in expansion of different metals at the same temperature. It is used to control the temperature of heating appliances at required values. It consists of a bimetallic strip attached with specially designed lever mechanism for different temperature settings of heating appliances. When the required temperature of the appliance is achieved the bimetal strip bends in a position so that the electric circuit breaks and heating element is disconnected from the supply. The reliability of thermostat depends on disconnection of heating element at a specified temperature. en_US
