dc.description.abstract Natural gas is mixed with steam and reformed over two stages to yield hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Reaction is highly endothermic and takes p1 ace at 8000e and 32 bar. In the second stage air is added so that the heat of combustion of part of the hydrogen supplies heat for the remainder of the endothermic reaction. Exit temperature is 1 ooooe. Exit gases are cooled and compressed and passed through a series of absorbers to take out water and carbon dioxide. The gases are compressed to the ammonia synthesis pressure of 225 bar. en_US
