Abstract:
Furfurylic resins are a recent development in the manufacture of polymers.
The basic raw material - furfuryl alcohol - is obtained from furfural,
which can be produced from renewable resources or wastes such as bagasse, sunflower
stalks, cotton bags or wood chips. Furfuryl resins have special application
in metal casting as foundry binders of the "no bake" or "hot box" type.
