dc.description.abstract DEP, with the common name Trichlorfon, has an active ingredient, dimethyl 2, 2, 2-trichloro-l'hydroxyethyl phosphonate. It was first introduced in 1952 by Bayer AG under the trade mark "Dipterex ", DEP is an insecticide which has an excellent stomach poison action and a good contact and breathing poison action. DEP has a broad spectrum of activities against lepidoptera, diptera and heteroptera. It is chiefly used for application to vegetable, rice, maize, sugar cane, grapes, fruits and cotton. DEP has a low order of toxicity to bees. As soon as the spray has dried on the plants, it is no longer hazardous to bees. en_US
