dc.description.abstract Women have started entering into specialized professions. With increased competition among workforce; they are likewise competing for limited job opportunities; work amidst challenges; getting fired, stagnant tedious job and delivering high level performance. The present research study examines the effect of Organizational Role Stress (ORS) on women functioning in different professions. A total sample of 180 Doctors, Engineers and Human Resource (HR) women were selected using purposive sampling technique who were further divided as per their work experience. ORSscale (Pareek, 1983c) was administered on the subjects measuring ten role stressors. The collected data was statistically analysed using 3x2 ANOVAdesign. The findings showed that women in HR profession revealed high role stress; they are engaged in recruitment, selection, training and development, performance appraisals ete. Women doctors have to execute the treatment, surgeries equally using their skills to their patients. Engineers have to continuously be upgraded with technology, learn innovative things. Women with above tell years of work experience faced high role stress in the dimensions of role stagnation, role expectation conflict, inter-role distance, role erosion, role overload, role isolation, role ambiguity, personal and resource inadequacy. On the contrary, for women with below five years of work experience, significant differences were observed in the role expectation conflict, role erosion, role ambiguity and personal and resource inadequacy. en_US
