dc.description.abstract Modern commercial production of fruit juice first began in Switzerland in 1800. Great development began in 1918 after world War I. The impOrtance of fruit juice as military food supply was recognized from the war experience, and in terest in fruit juice heigh tened in the U.S.A. and Europe. From 1925, mass production of fruit juice began in the U.S.A., and since then, both technology and volume of production greatly exceeded that of Europe. Almost all production technology being used today have been developed in the U.S.A. en_US
