dc.description.abstract | Experts take the view that the earth produces enough food-stuff to nourish the population on this earth if we succeed to prevent the losses of more than 50% caused for instance by the effects of climate, vermin and other causes. Also the continuing urbanization and the thus resulting increase of the distance between production site and place of consumption will increase these losses even further in the future. Almost all foodstuff can be protected by preservation, i.e. canning and packaging in suitable receptacles. This fact makes it possible to process locally the riches of the countries in form of natural produce and agricultural goods and make them available to the consumer without any losses. Furthermore this makes the countries able to participate in world trade and earn foreign exchange instead of spending it on expensive food. | en_US |
