Abstract:
Sodium chloride NaCI, generally known as
'common salt' or as 'salt' for short, has had a
long history as a seasoning, preserving agent and
base material for a great variety of products. The
compound occurs abundantly in nature, both
solid in minerals or in solution. Seawater containing
3% NaCl serves as a major source for
30% of the world salt production.
