Abstract:
The paper is devoted to modern ICT (Information and Communications Technology) solutions in the hybrid information system (IS) in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Small companies in Poland were chosen as examples. The paper consists of eight parts. After a brief introduction, the role of ICT in SMEs is presented. The
next section is devoted to forming the problem statement and describing the goal of study, research questions as well as the methodology. Next, the reasons are discussed why modern ICT technologies are used only in part of SMEs in Poland. Examples of ICT solutions are characterized and analyzed. Also, the use of hybrid ICT systems is a significant element, taken into consideration in the paper. The most important part of the article is a presentation of the ICT model which can be implemented in SMEs. The model was developed and applied based on author’s many years of experience in the implementation and integration of ICT. The final part of the paper contains results of research and short conclusions. In addition, the work includes assumptions regarding further development of models of ICT in Poland with particular emphasis on SMEs. In this paper information is analyzed from several specialist representative Polish ICT companies, SMEs, several ICTs and economic papers on the current situation in Poland. Additionally, owners of many Polish SMEs were interviewed.
