dc.description.abstract I. Product and its uses Steel balls are required in huge quantity for pulvarising of coal in Thermal Power Stations and for crushing of minerals in cement factories and pigment industries. These balls are either made of cast steel, forged steel or chilled hardened C.!. Castings. This scheme proposes manufacture of steel balls by forging process. Although there are a number of units already in existence in similar line of activities, even then still there exists a wide gap between the demand and supply. With more and more establishment of Thermal Power Stations, Cement and Pigment Industries in the country the demand for steel balls are sure to create more scope for setting up such ball manufacturing units. The progress of manufacture of forged steel balls is not very complicated. Engagement of good technician with experience in forging line and some knowledge of heat-treatment will be able to tackle the manufacturing process. As there is very hard competition in the marketing, the selling price is very low as compared to the price few years back, and such kind of industry is not economically viable in single shift. To make the unit economically viable the unit will bave to run in double shift. A stand-by generator has also been provided. en_US
